International Film Showcase and Forum in Beijing in April, 2006

The Rose Group is partnering with Beijing Student Film Festival (BSFF) to stage a first-ever International Film Showcase and Forum in early April in Beijing. Each country is asked to present up to four films that are considered a classic or milestone in its cinematic history. A panel of experts will provide insights into the films in a cross-cultural context. Profiles of the country’s cinema development as well as that of the directors, and synopsis of the film will be published in a special edition and posted on the Festival’s website. BSFF involved students from 100 elite universities across China in 2005 and will expand its outreach to 200 this year. Its website registered 20 million visitors in 2005.

The Rose Group will continue to fund the Yen-Pin Cross-Cultural Award in the Student Film Competition category at BSFF to encourage filmmakers to seek stories in a cross-cultural context.
