The Rose Group is an organic body of people who share the conviction as well as the passion to foster better understanding and goodwill between the United States and China through media presentation and exchange. This Group was envisioned by Rose Nan-Ping Chen after September 11, 2001 and started to take shape the following year in December. Since then, many people have helped to define its mission, develop its agenda, and contribute to its growth.
It is time to celebrate our shared humanity as well as our diverse faces, voices, and points of view. We look forward to exploring mutual interests and opportunities with others to carry forth this important and timely mission.
Since inception, we have initiated and facilitated exchange programs between the top journalism schools in the United States and China, took winners from our annual short film competition as well as American delegations to China. As part of the bilateral exchange, we stage ChinaFest, formerly known as China-America Festival of Film and Culture (CAFFC), an annual week-long festival held in Richmond, Virginia, featuring Chinese films, arts, and other cultural events.
Our publication “Thinking and Learning about China” provides the readers an overview about China’s history, art, philosophy, geography, festivals, medicine as well as commentaries about contemporary China. Our hope is to offer our American audiences a user-friendly reference booklet about China and its culture. |
